Garcelle Beauvais Calls Out Beyoncé for Putting Her Body on Display, "Grinding"

Garcelle Beauvais recently spoke with Hello Beautiful about and the subject of women's dress and public displays of sexuality came up.

“For me, you’re obviously flattered when someone calls you sexy or thinks you’re sexy,” she said. “I think that’s great. But, for me now, there’s so many ways to be sexy without being overt about it. I think you can wear a great short dress, but if you have long sleeves and you’re only showing leg.”

Garcelle went on to discuss the problems with the way Beyoncé chooses to present herself in the wake of the release of her new album.

“I love Beyoncé. I love her,” she said. “I think she’s beautiful and talented.  But, I think there has to be a fine line where you have to take responsibility for what you do. I think it’s good to be sexy, but sexy can come across in so many different ways. It doesn’t have to be everything showing out grinding, all of the time.”

The 47-year-old actress's thoughts are interesting, and she's certainly not alone in her feelings. But they are a bit unexpected considering Garcelle posed for Playboy back in 2007.

Perhaps her views have changed since the spread, but her comments beg the question: when is it appropriate to be overtly sexy?

About the photo: Garcelle looked incredible in a cropped moto jacket and floral printed dress at the opening of the David Yurman boutique.
