Shrieking with excitement as she found gold fabric for her new line, “Rich Hipster Belle,” Grammy-winning songstress Chrisette Michele launched her line for curvy women at this years Essence Fest in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The line was designed in collaboration with noted designer and stylist Jason Sky, and was unveiled at a “soft-launch release” in NOLA at this year’s Essence Fest.
“My goal with the clothing is for it to have universal glam appeal,” said Chrisette Michele on her YouTube Channel Rich Hipster TV. “It’s all about girls embracing their curves… And being comfortable in their glam space so that goes with the type of fabric all the way to the type of colors for it to be comfortable and warm for everyone who puts the clothing on.”
The songstress shares that her biggest goal was finding pieces that would fit the hip to waist ratio that is hardest to find pieces for on Centric TV's website, the first network designed for black women.
Chrisette spent time in Downtown Los Angeles prior to the clothing line’s launch release to pick fabrics that were quality.
"I am really confident in the pieces that were made. They are high quality, they are well made,” said Chrisette.
