Angela Bassett Puts Women Half Her Age to Shame at the BAFTAs

There are few myths of Black womanhood that are more satisfying than the age-old adage that Black does not, in fact, crack. Yes, we have to deal with white supremacy, but we will do it looking snatched. No one embodies that reality more consistently than 57-year-old Angela Bassett.

The legendary actress showed up to the British Academy of Film and Television Arts wearing a fuchsia Galia Lahav dress. She showed off her incredible frame in the fitted silhouette that featured a low cut back with ruched skirt.

She presented the award for Best Adapted Screenplay, and gave us something to aspire to.
