Michelle Obama Slays Glamorous White House Photo Shoot for Her 3rd Vogue Cover

It's hard to argue that there has ever been a First Lady as glamorous as Michelle Obama. Her three covers of American Vogue in seven years are proof that Mrs. Obama has brought to the White House an accessible chic that her supporters love.

For the magazine's December issue, she wore a cream colored Carolina Herrera on the cover and pieces from Atelier Versace inside for the Annie Liebovitz photos.

Fashion has a been a hallmark of her time in the spotlight. Mrs. Obama explained the magazine how she chooses her looks.

“It all boils down to comfort level: If I’m going to make you comfortable, than I have to be comfortable first,” she says.” So my first reaction isn’t ‘Who made this?’ But ‘Let’s try it on. What does it look like? Oooh, that’s cute. Oh, wow. I never thought of wearing something like this. Let’s put a belt on it. I feel gooood in this’.”

She continues, “There are definitely designers that I love, people I love to work with. And who they are as people matters. Are they good people? Do they treat their staff well? Do they treat my staff well? Are they young? Can I give them a boost? But! When all of that is equal…is it cute?!”

But the Princeton and Harvard grad has much more to offer than looking incredible in a couture own. She opened up on the responsibility she shoulders as FLOTUS and how she's chosen to spend her time.

"Kids are watching us, I experience it every single day. They hang on my every word, what I wear, what I say," she tells the magazine. "But that means something to me. Maybe because I still have kids and I know that they're influenced by people they look up to, but it makes us want to live right and do right and be right — Every. Single. Day — so that we don't ever disappoint these kids and they have something to hold on to, and so that they know — as I say all the time — I can do this. You can do this."

Mrs. Obama has appeared on the cover of the magazine twice before in 2009 and 2013. This shoot stands out because she's shed sophisticated "Mom-in-chief" aesthetic and moved toward more sumptuous images.
