Afro-Brazilians held their first ever Natural Hair Empowerment March (“Marcha do Empoderamento Crespo”) last weekend on the 4th anniversary of the march that marked the start of the Black Power movement in Bahia.
The idea for the event was sparked by the Facebook group Curled and Curled started by organizers Lorena Lacerda, Andrea and Naiara Souza Gouveia.
