Kelly Rowland is one-third of the groundbreaking girl group, Destiny's Child. She's been in the spotlight since she was a teenager, and that means she's had to deal with the ugly side of being in the public eye.
Kelly has spoken in the past about learning to love her beautiful, brown complexion.
At South by Southwest in Austin, Kelly addressed the need for broader representation and how she'll try to address it on her new talent show Chasing Destiny which will air on BET.
She went on, “No disrespect for lighter women, but we have to see all colors."
Not only is Kelly making a change with her forthcoming girl group, she's working on a cosmetics collection for women with darker skin.
She told ESSENCE:
My makeup artist Sheika Daley and I are actually starting a makeup line we’re making sure we make, well, we’re starting off with lashes and then we’re going to have it grow for all women...But definitely making sure we have our chocolate girls covered. Gotta get the chocolate girls in there! We have to have that, you know. I think Iman has done a beautiful makeup line and I want to do it too!
There's no word on the release date, but Kelly is one of the most beautiful women in the world. If she's endorsing a beauty product, we'll be buying.
Chasing Destiny will air April 5 at 10:30ET.
